Mamey Shake
If you’re Cuban or know someone who is I would surely hope you’ve had or been offered to try a mamey shake. Growing up my mother would always make mamey shakes. It’s simple but has a flavor unlike anything else I have ever tried in my life. Mamey or “sapote” is a native fruit to Cuba and Central America. This fruit in this delectable shake can be enjoyed for breakfast, with lunch or dinner, as a side with a snack of tostones, or as a dessert. Speaking of dessert, you can take it a step further by pouring this shake into some popsicle molds and making some sweet and healthy treats to help you stay cool in the summer months!
If you’re in Palm Beach County and want to find it fresh, visit Don Victorio’s Market or if you’re in search of frozen mamey, then Publix’s frozen section will provide you with a 14 oz. bag of this deliciousness! Growing your own mamey tree is also highly recommended as it is extremely easy to grow and maintain.
