It is no secret that I am a huge fan of smoothies. On the weekends or days off when I have a chance to sit and enjoy savor my smoothies for a little longer I will make something like this blue ocean smoothie bowl. There’s something therapeutic in creating the mise en place, slicing what’s needed, and blending a thicker smoothie to enjoy, spoon after spoon as the sun shines brighter. Surely, a bit poetic for a smoothie bowl, but remember how I described it and tell me you don’t feel the same way. Enjoy this slice of tropical ocean goodness soon!

Blue Ocean Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients

2 siggis yogurts

2 tsp Unicorn Superfoods Blue Spirulina

2 scoops vegan vanilla OLLY protein

1 mango, peeled and pitted

1 frozen banana

1 oz. blueberries + more for topping

1 kiwi, sliced for topping

2 tbsp Dang toasted coconut chips

Prepare

  1. First, in a blender mix the yogurt, blue spirulina, protein, mango, frozen banana, and blueberries until completely smooth.
  2. Next, slice the kiwi and cut off the edges…easier than peeling.
  3. Pour the blue ocean smoothie goodness into a bowl and top with kiwi slices, blueberries, and coconut chips.
  4. Finally, use a cute spoon, maybe one with a palm tree even to brighten up your experience and splendor of eating this smoothie.

Get Glowing Smoothie Bowl

This Get Glowing Smoothie Bowl is from my recently purchased book, The Beauty Chef. If you don’t have this book yet, I strongly encourage you to check it out and add it to your meal planning repertoire. My family and I have been more intentional about eating cleaner and healthier because outer beauty begins with inner beauty in what good and wholesome foods you eat. This smoothie bowl in particular is our new family favorite. It’s nice and cold and oh so flavorful.

My husband and I are extremely guilty of a common kitchen crime. We go weak on breakfast. Yeah the grab a bowl of cereal or a banana, scarf it down and go. No there isn’t anything criminal about that but there’s been a conviction of sorts with getting more into our breakfast to in turn put more pep in our step at the beginning of the day. These recipe seemed simple enough and the only thing that I changed about it is I multiplied the recipe by 3 to make enough in 8 small 8 oz. mason jars so we could just grab and go for the week. Also, I bought the 32. oz container of Stony Field Farms vanilla Greek yogurt and it does compliment the other ingredients so well. Kick the mundane breakfast blue, or lack there of, in the tush and incorporate this blueberry breakfast parfait that everyone including your kids will be sure to enjoy.

In my journey of discovering fruits I have never tried before I know I’ve been wanting to try nectarines. Alone, they taste so good and paired with orange it’s even more delicious! This orange nectarine smoothie is a creation I conjured up to keep my morning breakfast smoothie routine snazzed-up. I added a scoop of vegan vanilla protein for added protein and it helps me last until my early lunch so my blood sugar doesn’t drop throughout the morning.

I’ve recently discovered a produce market close to my house called Don Victorio’s. Don’t let the size of the store or appearance deter you from exploring all that this store has to offer. Even with it’s small size, Don Victorio’s is loaded with a wide array of fruits and vegetables but most importantly the freshness of the produce is what blew me away. I am getting so sick and tired of buying produce, specifically, herbs and leafy greens, at Publix and if you don’t use it within two days they go bad. I bought a huge bunch of cilantro at Don Victorio’s and it lasted in my fridge for a week before I used it. All of the produce is reasonably priced for the freshness. If you can’t find what you’re looking for the employees are knowledgeable and friendly and will help you find what you need.

Orange Nectarine Smoothie

Ingredients

3 small nectarines, flesh on
2 large oranges, peeled
1 cup almond milk
1/2 cup ice
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I used vegan vanilla)

Prepare
1. Peel oranges and discard peels.
2. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
3. Serve with a little drink umbrella and enjoy.
